Girls Just Wanna Have FUN!

Amidst the craziness of the Plastics month (seriously...it has been a rough one...this past week, the boys saw Chris Monday night before bed and didn't see him again until Saturday morning!), I have been pretty good at keeping myself EXTRA BUSY!  Sewing, crafting, re-purposing furniture and lots of play time with the boys.

BUT...Thursday night (June 14, 2012)
some of the ladies decided to get a little crazy!  Hershey Park opens to the public for the last 1/2 hour for FREE and with the craze of the newest ride, SKY RUSH, we were all over going.  Even though I have a season pass, I never ride the roller coasters because...well, the boys can't  A few weeks back I went with a friend just to ride the coasters and I rode a lot of the roller coasters, all in a row and after Fahrenheit I got sick...too much thrill in a short amount of time...boo!

But I digress...back to Thursday...we planned to meet at 8:45 so we could park by 9 and be at the gates by 9:15....I went in early to get us some AMAZING kettle corn and then we waited....with all the teenagers of Hershey (LOL)  We had planned out what 2 rides we wanted to ride...since seriously in a 1/2 hour that's about all you can get in...and it definitely had to be pre-planned...
we chose the STORM RUNNER and of course SKY RUSH.

We meandered our way to STORM RUNNER and it took us 12 minutes to get there...what?  I was panicked...what were we thinking?  By the time it was almost our turn to ride the ride, we had 12 minutes to ride and get all the way over to the the Sky Rush...(we figured as long as we were in line by 10pm we would be able to ride the ride...)  So I asked a couple of guys behind us if they were locals and the fastest way to get there...turned out they had the same plan and instantly became our best friends.
Here we are before the craziness!
This ride is one that I rode in my previous adventure and is by far my favorite!  It is insane!  If you have ever ridden California Screamin' at Disneyland, its the same idea of shooting you off...BUT this one goes form 0 - 70 in 2 seconds and then straight up an 18-story hill and right back down.  CRAZY!  Maybe one of the best coasters I have ever ridden...ever!

When the ride was over, my legs were SHAKING, okay, maybe my whole body was shaking...but remember, we had 12 minutes...by now, I think it was more like 8 to get to the other side of the park!  Good thing we are all runners (in fact all these girls ran in the 1/2 marathon I ran on May 5)!  We took off, with our new found friends of course and booked it!  Side note...I was still carrying my bUcKeT of kettle corn (no top) completely full!  After being reprimanded a few times for running through the park and a trail of popcorn
we made it with 3 minutes to spare!

THE SKY RUSH
This was our view from the line.  It is pretty impressive right?  I was a bit nervous about this...and going on coasters in the dark is all the more scary!  Good thing Leslie was there to hold my hand (lol)

Here we are ready to go.  I think one of the scariest things about this ride is the harness or lack of one.  It only goes around your waist...what?  I totally felt like I had NO SUPPORT and that freaked me out the most.  The ride was so stinkin' fast and I felt like my head went everywhere...I need to be better about bracing myself.  I was so scared, I couldn't even SCREAM!  Poor Leslie next to me squeezed her eyes shut the entire time...that is usually how I roll, but with no upside downs, I did ok.  I can't say that I like or dislike this ride, now that I know what is coming I need to ride it again.  My neck hurt when I got off, but I am going to give it another chance and then form my opinion.  But I can say that it is iNsAnE!  Once you are loaded, you go straight up that ginormous hill and you don't crawl folks...no way.  And then you are off at 70 miles an hour whipping around that ride like it is nobody's business.  WOW!
At the end of the ride, we took a second to look at our picture...and let's just say, had I brought my money, I would have bought it.  Our picture tops the charts...every person was laughing around us...our new friends said, and I quote, "I want your picture...that is the funniest thing I have ever seen!"
Can you tell we are a bunch of moms who rarely venture out?
Watch out Hershey Park, we are coming back SOON!

Easily the scariest night of my life - especially when our harnesses wouldn't lock and they had us all get off and then get back on again.

Oh man, good times. Can't wait till next time.
