Hope...its what we can hold on to...

I am not a super-dooper political person, nor am I a great writer, however I can't help but feel the need to get my words out there to anyone who wants to read them.  As I watched parts of the election take place today, my heart sickened at the results...lets not debate about who the better candidate would have been, we all have our own opinions.  I am scared for the future.
We are a nation filled with wickedness...you see it all around you! I can not hardly turn on the TV without fear of what I am going to hear or see. I can't go to work without over hearing the nasty things that my students talk about and I can't watch the news without another person having been murdered or domestic violence having taken place. This is a world where the things that are evil and were once seen as such are now called good...isn't that what was prophesied??? That in the last days that which is evil will be called good and good will be called evil? I believe that NOW is the time to humble ourselves before the Lord and turn to him. Sure, President Obama will give me money, he will give everyone health care, he will GIVE everyone a college education. Do we not see the problem with this? Isn't this what Satan wants? To GIVE everyone the same things and leave choice out of it? I voted for AGENCY before and now here I am and my PRESIDENT wants to take that away from me. He wants everyone to be the same and successful without the joys of working hard to achieve that success. So now you are telling me that the 15 years I am going to spend of my married life, struggling to get my husband through school, raising kids and teaching school myself are all for naught, because I could have just sat around and let my PRESIDENT GIVE it to me?
I am frustrated, scared and a bit anxious in my heart tonight. However, I know that God loves me and that I am his daughter. I KNOW that he listens to me in my fears and I KNOW that now is the time to humble myself and be a better child of HIS, because he is ALWAYS there for me.
This weekend I was in Utah with my family for my nephews baby blessing.  My mom receives weekly e-mails from a church magazine and in it was an article about Elder Packer (I believe, I am never good at the names).  Elder Packer gave a talk in a ward in Sandy, Utah explaining to the people that God knows our fears, he hears our prayers, but that many things that are and will be happening are part of His great plan for us.  Now is the time for the hearts of His children to turn to Him.  We are in troubled times, we are in a time when we can be justified in feeling scared, but the remedy for fear is that of HOPE!!!  Hope and faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Hope that God loves us and that we are not alone in this battle of life.
I am so lucky to have a father that I can speak with, that listens to my worries and my fears because I have many. I fear that this is all part of Heavenly Father's plan for his children and we are beginning to witness many great changes that are going to ultimately lead to the last days..to that great day when Christ will come again.
I understand that one man can't change the outcome of my entire life, but I feel that this is the beginning, the beginning of what is to come.  I hope you all feel that you get what you voted for tonight...and if you like me are scared, I hope that you will remember that you are on the LORD's side when it comes right down to it and that HE will NEVER FORSAKE US!
I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN, I'm just scared of what AMERICA MAY and probably WILL become.

You claim to not be a writer, but the way you put it was great. I need to blog about this too. I say ditto to all you said.

I'm scared too... but I have a hard time believing he'll actually do what he says he will. Isn't it true that most presidential nominees tell us all these seemingly wonderful things they'll do for us, then once they're president they realize they can't do it without senate and house approval?!? During these tough times, I just have to have faith and remember that America is a land of promise, and pray that the man in the "hot seat" is God-fearing enough to lead us with His inspiration.

Very insightful post and I agree with you. I think Angie is right though. He won't be able to do all the things he talks about. Congress won't allow it and plus it's impossible to cut taxes for 95% of Americans, give national health care to all, and bail out the housing industry. Something has go to give and he won't be able to do all that. Great post.

You are an excellent writer-and I appreciate your words! I agree with you that this is the beginning of a great change, and I feel scared for my children and what their lives will hold. All we can do is teach them everything that you just said and hope that they will choose to make right choices. Thanks for the inspiration-and hopefully Obama won't be that bad!
